HAF Volunteers Health and Medical program offers an incredible internship opportunity tailored for pre-med students, nurses, and medical professionals. Each week spent on the program, participants will have the chance to observe various specialty departments, providing a fresh and exhilarating experience. Spending time in the wards and operating rooms is just one aspect of the enriching pre-medical journey abroad.
In Ghana, one of the most pressing issues facing the low-income population is limited access to essential healthcare services. A significant number of patients require medical attention due to illnesses related to poor sanitation, while malaria continues to pose a significant problem, causing numerous illnesses and fatalities. By joining our medical program, interns will have the invaluable chance to acquire firsthand experience within Ghana’s healthcare system. You will work together with doctors, nurses, and local healthcare professionals in hospitals and clinics, striving to provide high-quality care to patients.
Intern’s are assigned tasks according to their qualifications, experience, and knowledge. Some of the tasks you may assist with include recording patient attendance, maintaining patient history, providing first aid treatment, conducting patient examinations, and offering pre-natal care. Additionally, you will be involved in hands-on activities such as supporting local nurses at community-based clinics and hospitals in various aspects of clinical nursing. You will also serve as a primary healthcare worker, assisting with physical therapy, treating minor injuries, and performing administrative duties.
If you are looking to gain exposure to the hospital environment, further develop your prior experience, or gain practical career experience in the global healthcare community, this program is perfect for you.
