The HAF Volunteer’s law and human right internship program is an ideal opportunity for students or professional interested in pursuing a career in law and human rights. This life-changing internship will offer you the opportunity to gain practical career experience in the field while contributing to improve the human rights effort in Ghana.
As an intern, your exact role will be determined by your level of experience and interest in specific areas. You’ll work in the office on current legal issues, both through dealing directly with clients and researching broader cases.
With a collaborative effort, you may also work together with a group of human rights activists to engage in innovative research, education, advocacy, and social justice efforts, with a particular emphasis on addressing pressing concerns such as domestic violence, promoting women’s empowerment, and combating any unfair legal issues or child trafficking.
In this enriching experience, you will develop valuable skills in client management and gain a comprehensive understanding of the daily operations within a legal office. Through conducting research and writing articles, you will enhance your proficiency in legal terminology, while also delving into topics such as women’s rights, the history and current climate of human rights in Ghana, or specific issues like remanding prisoners.
This internship is ideal for law students or graduates seeking practical experience in human rights law. The program is also appropriate for those on a gap year, undergraduate students in areas such as development studies and international relations, or people of any age and background with a passion for human rights, social justice, and international development. Placements are certainly demanding and must be taken seriously. The experiences that you will have while interning in Ghana will give your resume an edge over the competition.
